Christian Values?

So........ as a progressive in the Bible belt of this country, I find myself constantly at odds with the good "God fearing" folk in the region. I am a firm believer that organized religion breeds fanaticism, and more and more often, this premise is validated. I recently transgressed and upset some people by expressing unhappiness at being "left out" of an important decision that directly impacted me. Well, the response to this unhappiness was to cause them to tell me to let go of my anger. REALLY? That struck me as ridiculously sanctimonious and hypocritical. As it happens, I am not angry, just disappointed. I have reached out many times to try to fix this breach in our relationship, but have been completely shut out by the very people who stressed the importance of letting go of my anger. I am so very tired of this religious, holier than thou hypocritical CRAP! I don't think that going to church 10 times a week makes someone a good Christian! If you are a good Christian, then practice what you preach! Stay away from church, and just live the life of a good person. Do NOT cram false values down my throat! I treat people the way I would like to be treated, and while not a regular church goer, I would match my "Christian values" against those of my hypocritical, church dwelling "friends" any day of the week, and twice on Sunday! The people of the South are so hung up on the appearance of Christian values, but more often than not, forget to actually follow the principles that they insist on preaching. If this is Christian values, then I am prou to be a progressive Atheist!
